Dear Our Lady Star of the Sea Community,
It is with great joy and confidence that I announce Mrs. Danielle Trudel has been appointed as the new Principal of Our Lady Star of the Sea School, effective July 1.
Mrs. Trudel has been a beloved member of the Star community for the past nine years, serving as our dedicated Middle School science teacher. Her faith-filled leadership, commitment to excellence, and deep care for our students have made a lasting impact on our school. She understands the heart of Our Lady Star of the Sea, and I am confident that she will continue to lead with wisdom, compassion, and purpose.
In addition to her years at Star, Mrs. Trudel brings valuable leadership experience from her previous roles at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy, where she served as both staff member and department chair. Her strong foundation in Catholic education and student-centered leadership will guide our school with clarity and faith.
Mrs. Trudel and her family are deeply committed to Catholic education. Her husband serves as the Principal of Divine Child High School, and their two children attend Catholic schools as well. Their family’s dedication to faith-based learning and leadership is a true reflection of the values we hold dear at Our Lady Star of the Sea.
I am also pleased to share that Mrs. Kerry Vlahantones will continue in her essential role as school counselor and will now also serve as Assistant Principal. In this expanded role, Mrs. Vlahantones will assist in carrying out key administrative duties while continuing to support the emotional and academic well-being of our students. Her dedication, professionalism, and steady presence are a blessing to our school. Her deep faith continues to form and inspire both staff and students alike..
With this strong leadership team in place, Our Lady Star of the Sea School is well-positioned for continued growth, faith formation, and academic success. I am grateful for the ongoing support of our families, faculty, and parish as we embrace this exciting new chapter together.
Please join in congratulating Mrs. Trudel and Mrs. Vlahantones, and keeping them in your prayers as they step into their new roles.
Msgr. Gary Smetanka
