Welcome Star Families! We are so excited to be starting the 2022-23 School Year. We are all looking forward to the return of many great events and activities! As the school year is quickly approaching we wanted to make sure to communicate important school information and dates. Supply Drop-off
This is new for Star. In an effort to alleviate the amount of bags students need to bring to school on their first day, we would like to give parents the opportunity to drop off classroom supplies prior to school starting. Supplies such as Clorox wipes, Kleenex, paper towel, and similar items can be brought to the school and we will be delivered to your student’s classroom for the first day of school.
Items must be placed in large paper bags with your student’s last name and grade. Individuals dropping off the bags will enter through the school front office and will be directed to the tables to leave the bags. While we know students and parents are anxious to see their teachers, teachers will not be available during these times to see families. Supply drop off will be held on Wednesday, August 24th from 9:00am-2:00pm and Friday, August 26th, from 9:00-11:00am.
Ice Cream Social
Thursday, August 25th at 3:30 pm all Star Families are invited to the school to join together for an Ice Cream Social. Families will enjoy delicious ice cream while meeting new Star families and re-engaging with current ones. The PTO will also have available Star Spirit Wear t-shirts for families to purchase. This fun event will take place on our school playground at 3:30pm. Come join us to kick of the school year in a fun, family way!
Morning Drop-off
Doors will open for students to enter school at 7:45 am.
Families may park and use the cross walk to bring their student to the courtyard doors or they may use the car drop-off line.
Once again this year, our Fifth Grade students will be joining some of our staff during drop-off in our car drop-off line to help students exit their car safely. For expediency in keeping the car line moving, we ask that parents do not get out of the car when using the drop-off line. If your student needs your assistance, please feel free to park your car and walk them to the courtyard.
Monday, August 29th First Day of School Drop-off – Parents are welcome to walk their students into school on the first day of school only. Doors close for drop off at 8:00 am therefore, please make sure you are arriving at school before 8:00 am if you would like to walk your student in. Our morning prayer and announcements begin at 8:05 am so we respectfully ask that parents depart from school by that time.
Afternoon Pick-up
Half day Preschool-Young 5 and Kindergarten student pick-up is at 11:00 am in the school courtyard. Teachers will walk their students out to meet their parents.
Full day student pick-up starts at 3:00 pm, starting with our Preschool through Young 5 students, Kindergarten through Grade 2 at 3:15 pm, Grades 3 through 5 at 3:20 pm and Middle School at 3:25 pm.
We respectfully ask that parents keep a watchful eye on their little ones as they wait for their older students to exit school. We want all our families safe while they are at school.
Please remember that pets are not allowed in the courtyard at drop-off or pick-up. We ask that families leave the pets in the car if they are waiting in the courtyard for their students.
Please also keep in mind that drop-off and pick-up are not the times to confer with your student’s teacher about any school related issues. Please be respectful of their time and reach out to them to schedule a time to talk or meet on any issues you would like to address with them.
Cafeteria
Kindergarten through Eighth grade students will be eating lunch in the cafeteria. Microwaves will be available for students who bring their lunches. Cafeteria staff and parent volunteers will be available to help our young students with using the microwave
Hot lunches will once again be available for our First through Eighth grade students and will begin on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.
We welcome our parents to volunteer to help in the cafeteria and recess for our Kindergarten through Fifth Grade lunch and recess each day. Please look for communication from the school in the coming weeks to sign up to help.
COVID Protocols
COVID Positive individuals must isolate at home for 5 days since onset of symptoms or positive COVID test, which ever comes first. They may return to school after the 5 day isolation period as long as symptoms have lessened, including being fever-free for at least 24 hours. Upon return to school after the 5 day isolation period, they must wear a mask at school for the remainder of the 10 day period since the onset of symptoms or positive COVID test.
Close Contacts do not need to quarantine, no matter their vaccination status.
Notifications – while schools are no longer required to notify the school community of a COVID positive cases in school, we will notify families if an individual in their class has tested positive for COVID so families are aware.
