As you know, OLSOS and our local community have been experiencing a rise in COVID-19 cases. To address this COVID-19 rise, Wayne County Health Department has sent communication to schools alerting us that the Community Transmission Level of COVID-19 is at HIGH for Wayne County. As such, they are recommending that masks be worn in indoor public settings, including K-12 schools. In an effort to keep our school community aware of all health issues and WCHD recommendations, we wanted to make sure to communicate this recommendation to all our families. We are not returning to mandatory masking in school rather, we are leaving the decision to have your student masked in school to each individual family. We will respect each family’s decision on masking their students. Please keep in mind, masking is required for students and staff returning to school from a COVID-19 positive test result and returning to school as a Close Contact to a COVID-19 positive individual out of school. Below is the Wayne County Health Department’s email as reference. We will continue to keep the health and safety of our OLSOS students, teachers and staff at the forefront of our minds as we quickly approach the end of the school year. Thank you again for all your support. God bless, Mrs. Meghan Carter-Waid - Principal
