Star Families,
I hope you all are enjoying the beginning of summer and beautiful Michigan weather! I want to start by saying again how appreciative I am of all our Star students and families. While many activities and personal interactions were missed this past year in our school community, the most important goal of giving our students an excellent spiritual, social and academic education was successfully achieved. For this I say prayers of thanks to God regularly.
With only having had the opportunity to meet face to face with a small number of our Star parents, I am truly looking forward to meeting each and every one of you. As I look toward the 2021-22 School Year I am also looking forward to hopefully bringing back many of the activities and parent involvement that we missed this year – classroom holiday party helpers, field trip drivers, lunch/recess assistance, etc. While I welcome all parents and family members to volunteer in the school to help in any capacity, all individuals working or volunteering in the school must complete and have on file at the school the following:
- Protecting God’s Children
- Criminal Background Check
- Code of Conduct Form
If you have not already completed the Protecting God’s Children Program, the AOD is still offering the program on-line until mid summer and at some point this summer individuals will be required to attend in-person classes. The following is the link to the on-line program https://protect.aod.org/protecting-gods-children – if you have not already completed the program I would recommend taking advantage of the on-line program while it is still offered; it is required to complete this program to volunteer in any capacity in the school.
If you have not already completed the Criminal Background Check and Code of Conduct paperwork, please download, fill out the document HERE and return it to the school. Again, this is a requirement for volunteering in the school.
I am truly looking forward to the upcoming school year and having the opportunity to meet all our Star families and to give them the opportunity to be back in the school volunteering to help in whatever capacity there is available. If you would like to volunteer in the school, please ensure you have successfully completed the Protecting God’s Children program and filled out the Criminal Background Check and Code of Conduct forms and return to the school.
With the lifting of the State’s COVID protocols, I will be in constant contact with the Wayne County Health Department and AOD with any COVID protocols that would need to be in place for our return to school in the fall. I am praying we can return to school with no protocols needed but we will continue to follow all WCHD and AOD recommendations to keep our school, student and staff safe and healthy. As we get closer to the start of the school year, I will be communicating with our Star families with plans for next year. With all your prayers I am confident we can return to some sort of normalcy next year.
