I hope you all had a very wonderful Christmas and relaxing break. I wanted to reach out to all our families to address the CDC and MDHHS changes to quarantining for COVID-19 positive and individuals who are Close Contacts. The CDC published new quarantining guidelines changing quarantine periods from 10 days to 5 days for COVID positive individuals and Close Contacts. While MDHHS has adopted these new guidelines, they are very clear that these changes are for the general population, not for K-12 schools. Schools will be continuing with the COVID quarantine protocols we have been following this year. Read more
HERE. As you know, the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Michigan has been on the rise for many weeks, and continues to rise. With a good number of our families celebrating Christmas and New Years with their families and friends, it is very important for each of us to pay close attention to anyone in your household who may be exhibiting an COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how minor. As we look toward returning to school on Monday, if your student begins to exhibit cold like symptoms, no matter the severity, I ask that you keep him or her home this week until his or her symptoms subside or you are able to confirm with their doctor their symptoms are not due to COVID-19 or they are not COVID positive through a PCR test. As we return to school this week, we appreciate your prayers and help as we err on the side of caution.
In the same vein, I would like you all to join with me in praying for one of our students and her family whose father passed away from COVID-19 just before Christmas. Please ask God to keep this family in His loving hands and help them through this very difficult time. I will continue to pray for each and every one of our Star families as we start a new year. God bless you all.
