Pre school-2nd grade- Perfect locomotor skills such as skipping, jumping, leaping, hopping, and sliding. Practice sport skills such as kicking, throwing, bouncing, striking an object and tossing etc. Begin to work with small groups to create cooperative experiences and learn about teamwork. Learn the importance of fitness and eating healthy. Learn about cooperation and following the directions in the class.
3rd grade-5th grade - Practice and play with bigger teams and learn about teamwork. Begin to learn and understand the concepts and strategies of each sport. Play each sport on a team such as basketball, soccer, football, ultimate frisbee, dance/gymnastics, floor hockey, speedball, tennis, whiffle ball and badminton. Begin to have advanced skills in these sports and will practice proper throwing, kicking, passing, dribbling, tossing, and rolling. Begin to learn about defense and how to defend other teams. Cooperation and learning about how to be a good teammate.
6th-8th grade - Students practice in separate sports or activities per quarter. Understand strategies and rules to each sport. Practice and break down all the skills in each sport or activity. Play games and begin to receive and apply advanced knowledge about the sports.
