Accelerated Reader is a part of the Lower School Language Arts curriculum. Students read selected books at specific grade levels. When completed they take a computerized test for that book to earn points. This program is an effective way to monitor all forms of guided reading and ensure success for every student, regardless of reading level, from beginning to college prep.
Reading the F.A.S.T. WayOur K-2 teachers have been trained in the F.A.S.T. (Foundations of Analysis, Synthesis and Translation) reading program. It provides an organized and deliverable system for teaching the phonetic code. Students use colorful magnetic boards to develop phonological and phonetic skills and to practice what they are learning. F.A.S.T. reading books are phonetically controlled, but of interest to children. F.A.S.T creates successful readers who actively learn how our language system works. F.A.S.T. is mainly used in the Kindergarten classrooms and in the Enrichment Center.
